We have a wonderful community….let’s help it get better! Start here. This blog will give you a place to voice your ideas and concerns.
Let me tell you about myself. Our family arrived here in July 1959 from New York City. A couple in their early 20′s with two toddlers. Boynton Beach was a small fishing village (Lyman’s Dock) of about 5000 people back then. Talk about “culture shock”!
You could spot us immediately. We walked too fast, talked too fast and that New York accent. I wanted to understand my newly adopted town. Attending council meetings was my way. I think that I am in the minutes recorded in 1960. Joined the League of Women Voters of South Palm Beach. Even ran for public office in 1972. The headlines back then said “One woman on the City Council is Enough”. Although I lost, it didn’t stop me from running again in 1989. A true politician doesn’t run every 17 years! It was my way of getting heard about issues that concerned me.
Now I don’t need public office. I/We have this Blog!

WE LOVE YOUR BLOG & WEBSITE!!!!!
KEEP IT UP!

hi!
My family and I wanted to come to Boynton beach to stay at my parents condo at Sterling Village. This is appealing because, of course, it’s free, but my brother just left from there and said that the beach was not cleaned up and there was a lot of beach erosion due to whatever.. We have kids 15 and 11 and were wondering, if these beaches are to be cleaned on a daily basis or what. We don’t really want to come if we can’t escape to the beach daily and enjoy a pretty decent beach! Can you tell me why this is not cleaned up? and if it might be before our possible arrival on April 11 or 12?
I would certainly appreciate a response, as we are nearing our spring break time and need to get our plan into action.
Thanks for your time in advance~

Please do visit. The beach will be newly cleaned when you arrive because on Saturday 4th of April The Sand Sifters, a local beach cleanup group will hold a “Save the World” event which include a beach cleanup.
Beach erosion is in Nature’s realm, however, our City is responsible for the maintanence of our beach. I emailed our City Manager a copy of your comment.
Boynton Beach is a fun place to visit. Staying at Sterling Village you are centrally located. Do write and let us know how you enjoyed your stay.
My wife Mona and I are moving to Boynton Beach approx. July 1. We hope to get involved with the community as much as possible and meet new friends. We know a couple that moved there about 4 years ago and they have been begging us to come to visit. SURPRIZE-WE’RE COMING!

I recently started to realize how much planning was done in Boynton Beach. When I was working, I didn’t notice these things, but now that am retired, I can’t help but notice the planning that was involved. I am really impressed with the way the city was planned, as to single family homes, apartments, condos. Most of the city seems to be very well kept. Unfortunately, I live behind the Belmont. When it was built, I was working during the day and didn’t ever see anyone from their company until a man named Eli Berduga (spelling?) who was the builder came to my back yard and explained to me that he was going to put in a “really nice fence” k)for me. Unfortunately, when I came home from work, the 4 foot cliff full of pipes and other debris was spilling into my back yard. The “really nice fence” was chain link. which has a 2 foot space between the dirt and the fence. I would like to clean it up, since it has eroded and uncovered all kinds of rocks, debri and old pipes with nuiscance trees sprouting up. (the original landscaping looks nice even though the “cliff” has eroded, (mostly into my back yard)it is still there. Even if I put up a wood fence, the soil will be piled up a few feet which will not be compatible with the wood that would rot. This development is high end and certainly has the money to clean up the back of their property. Boynton Beach is planned, so how is it that I have inherited this mess?
